Sustainability Commercial Manager
Role Introduction
Reports to: Head of Sustainability – Commercial & Innovation

Sustainability leadership to address the environmental impacts associated with flying is a key part of this journey and a key pillar of our company strategy. As part of our ambitious sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) strategy, Cathay has developed the leading Corporate SAF Programme in Asia; a collaboration with leading corporates helping to scale adoption of SAF.
This role is responsible for managing and growing Cathay’s Corporate SAF Programme for corporate travel clients, while also leading the development of new SAF propositions for individual customers. The role will work cross-functionally to deliver commercial outcomes, design meaningful propositions for corporate and B2C customers, and build partnerships that advance Cathay’s voluntary SAF usage and leadership in sustainable travel.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate SAF Programme Strategy & Partnerships
- Manage and grow strategic corporate partnerships under the Corporate SAF Programme, deepening customer engagement and expanding programme impact
- Develop commercial strategies and business models tailored to Cathay’s current and future corporate travel customers
- Drive business development activities and manage the full sales cycle for Corporate SAF Programme customer
- Build strategic partnerships with corporate travel customers and sustainability-minded organisations to expand Cathay’s B2B sustainability offerings
- Support in building business cases, customer propositions, pricing models, and commercial frameworks that support voluntary SAF uptake
- Shape compelling, scalable sustainability propositions that build trust and credibility with both corporate and individual customers–working closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure transparency, integrity, and alignment with Cathay’s broader sustainability commitments
B2C Sustainability Programme Development
- Lead the development of Cathay’s B2C SAF Programme, enabling individual passengers to support SAF through meaningful and transparent options
- Collaborate with Digital Experience and customer loyalty teams to design engaging customer journeys, including recognition, incentives, or redemption mechanisms tied to SAF and sustainable travel choices
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Procurement & Aircraft Trading, Sales and Distribution, Digital Experience, and Finance to advance strong sustainability-linked commercial offerings
- Represent Cathay in external customer and industry engagements related to sustainable travel and SAF
Requirements
- A degree in business administration, management, sustainability or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial roles in aviation, travel, sustainability, or consulting
- Strong commercial acumen, with a proven track record in driving sales, achieving commercial targets, and building strong customer relationships
- Commercial experience and deep understanding of the aviation cargo market and its unique dynamics
- Specific managing SAF and sustainability-focused partnerships with corporate clients (B2B) is highly valued
- Experience in developing customer-facing (B2C) sustainability propositions and supporting digital product development is also a strong plus
- Strong knowledge of SAF, including relevant certification and reporting standards, quality and integrity considerations, and emissions accounting across Scope 1/3–to support customer engagement and programme integrity
- Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight timelines. Proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, with a strong bias for action and flexibility to adapt in a dynamic, fast-evolving environment
- Strong organisational awareness and ability to navigate complex, cross-functional environments
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse stakeholders. Skilled in delivering clear, strategic insights and recommendations
