Performance & Efficiency Engineer (18-month Contract)
Role Introduction
Reports To: Senior Performance & Efficiency Engineer
This role is part of a professional team in our Flight Operations Department, which consists of flight crew and ground staff teams, both working to ensure the highest standards of operational efficiency and service. Safety is intrinsic to everything we do.
As a Performance & Efficiency Engineer, you will be responsible for undertaking aircraft performance, operations engineering and weight & balance tasks in meeting regulatory safety and operational efficiency requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support take-off, enroute, and landing systems 24/7 to meet operational needs, including participating in standby roster duty during non-office hours when required
- Develop and enhance methodologies to calculate aircraft performance data for flight crew operations, flight planning systems, and regulatory reporting to ensure regulatory compliance, operational safety and fuel efficiency
- Monitor, evaluate and recommend aircraft performance design changes from manufacturers to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Evaluate and design flight procedures to optimize operational efficiency, safety and commercial benefit
- Monitor and report on emissions and noise levels; and design noise mitigation procedures when required
- Provide and evaluate aircraft performance data to support the assessment of new routes, services, and airports considering payload capability, fuel burn, and block time forecast
- Produce forecast data for the annual fuel budget and provide analysis for fuel budget discrepancies. Measure and report to management on fuel efficiency
- Ensure the production of the manual Trim Sheet, cumulative and shear load calculation, and aircraft weight and CG index data for the computer loading systems
- Control and monitor aircraft operating empty weight and CG indices, either newly delivered from manufacturers or after modification, repair and weighing to ensure regulatory compliance, operational safety, and efficiency
- Approve weight & balance reports when qualified
- Support aircraft performance monitoring of aircraft fleets including conducting performance audit flights to gather and analyse in-flight performance data contributing to operational safety and efficiency; Provide flight crew classroom training and support courseware material on aircraft performance as required
- Develop automation and programming solutions to improve processes and operational efficiency. Maintain section IT infrastructure, services and support where required
- Participate in fuel efficiency initiatives and projects, supporting operational improvements. Coordinate with internal and external parties
- Undertake flight operations projects and studies as directed by Senior Engineer/Engineering Manager. Deputize for Senior Engineer when required
Requirements
Knowledge
- Aeronautical or relevant background, and familiar with manufacturer’s software/application programs.
- Degree in Engineering/Science discipline.
Skills
- Strong analytical, numerical, and programming skills.
Experience
- Over 6 years of working experience in aircraft performance, operations engineering, and weight & balance.
