About the Programme
Digital & IT Graduate Trainee Programme is designed to provide trainees with a concrete professional foundation through rotations across core Information Technology (IT) and Digital disciplines in our Hong Kong headquarters and the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
Through a well-defined development framework, trainees will gain hands-on experience, build industry knowledge, and develop the skills needed to deliver innovative solutions that drive competitive advantage.
Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates can pursue specialised career streams in Digital & IT within Cathay. Candidates who apply for the Hong Kong track will continue their career in Hong Kong, while those who apply for the GBA track will pursue long-term opportunities in the GBA.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop an understanding of the Cathay’s Digital & IT Department and the organisation – purpose, structure, strategy, values and drivers
- Acquire in-depth knowledge and accomplish learning objectives across diverse teams in IT and Digital, including Solution Centre, Infrastructure & Security, Business Digitalisation, Data Analytics, and Strategy & Planning
- Build broad exposure to core airline systems and applications development, infrastructure, digital initiatives and analytics, and gain practical experience through frontline operations at the IT Service Centre
- Apply technical best practices, standards, and governance frameworks to support digital initiatives and contribute to the success of Cathay’s digital leadership
- Contribute innovative ideas and leverage emerging technologies to create competitive advantages for the airline
- Take full ownership of organising the Cathay Hackathon - our flagship annual corporate event open to the public - including end-to-end planning, internal and external communications, stakeholder and logistics management, as well as leading a junior team in the second year throughout the preparation cycle
Job Requirements
- Final year students or recent graduates (with not more than 2 years' work experience) with a bachelor's degree or higher in any discipline; Digital / IT-related degree would be an advantage
- Right to Work Requirements by Location
- Hong Kong: Must have the right to work in Hong Kong. Eligible visa holders are also welcome, including via the Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS) and Immigration Arrangements for Non-Local Graduates (IANG)
- GBA: Must meet local work authorisation requirements and be open to occasional travel to Hong Kong headquarters and other GBA offices
- Strong academic performance
- Excellent command of written and spoken English is required for Hong Kong. For the Greater Bay Area, fluency in both English and Putonghua is required
- Excellent problem-solving and influencing skills, with business acumen
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and work as a team
- Goal-oriented, high learning agility and self-driver for career progression
- Passion for aviation and a career in the Digital / IT field
