Assistant Manager Talent Management (18-month Contract)
Role Introduction
Reports To: Talent Management Manager

As the Assistant Manager Talent Management, you will be responsible for implementing an integrated talent management framework for Cathay, which will include talent development and succession planning.
This role will be a key member of the Talent Management team, reporting to and supporting the Talent Management Manager to drive and implement talent initiatives for specific departments or programs, and to embed talent management concepts and mindsets. You will work closely with key stakeholders from the business, The Cathay Academy, and People functions to identify, develop, and progress talents.
Key Responsibilities
- Take the lead on the implementation, review, and enhancement of the people initiatives of the responsible business
- Drive implementation of responsible talent programmes, including Internship, Graduate Trainee, and career development programmes
- Analyse relevant data to provide ongoing reporting of people initiatives with recommendations on talent development and retention of the responsible business
- Foster Graduates Community to develop and engage talents through organising purposeful initiatives with a structured framework and plan
- Support Talent Management Manager in driving the adoption of a centralised talent management platform for skills identification and assessment, robust succession planning and career planning
- Work with The Cathay Academy and other related parties to plan and organise practical learning modules with a structured plan and review mechanism to ensure objectives are met
- Document all necessary records and information in an organised manner to facilitate audit and assessment between Cathay and external professional bodies
- Support the development of innovative talent solutions to sustain and build the talent pipeline for specific functional areas
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, HR, psychology or relevant discipline
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in learning & development / talent management preferably experience gained in engineering or aviation
- Demonstrable experience of implementing effective talent management initiatives, with examples of managing multiple projects including early career programmes
- Experience in managing training vendor / consultant would be an advantage
- Ability to work with multiple teams and to create positive changes in a collaborative, convincing manner, and the ability to manage client expectations
- Ability to manage difficult situations with tact and diplomacy; multi-task in a fast-paced environment; and maintain confidentiality is critical
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity. Understanding the issue and utilising the resources available, to achieve the desired solution with sensitivity
- Sound data analytic and digital skills (i.e., MS Teams, M365, Qualtrics)
- Strong influencing, consulting, and stakeholder relationship management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communications in English
