Role Introduction

Reports to : Dining Operation Supply Chain and Inventory Management Manager

The role is part of a global team in our Customer Experience & Design (CED) department who aim to refine, invest and improve in the areas that we know matter most to our customers, that reflects our Move Beyond promise: one that is consistent and reliable.  

As the Assistant Manager Equipment Planning and Development, you will be responsible for preparing equipment specifications and requirements for sourcing and selection according to Dining & Hospitality team and Inflight Dining team. You will plan and monitor equipment consumption and logistics costs, and manage a systematic control of inventory and inventory system enhancement. You are required to communicate equipment changes to front line operations. The person will plan to implement and monitor costs/ weight savings and environmental initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan equipment procurement, design compliance, specification development and equipment launch according to the design concept and guidelines from Dining & Hospitality team and Inflight Dining team. 
  • Plan for equipment projects on time and prepare equipment usage forecast, design and functional needs, logistics requirement for sourcing and tendering process.  
  • Formulate supplier selection criteria and tools, analyse and evaluate data for equipment selection with Procurement team. Define and establish equipment handling procedures for implementation.  
  • Coordinate and communicate for new equipment launch and procedural changes to cabin crew, caterers, cleaners, launderers and contractors. Continuous review and monitor equipment quality, serviceability and enhance equipment design for improvement in terms of equipment function and durability 
  • Monitor and analyse equipment, laundry and logistics expenditures to identify improvement opportunities and propose cost initiatives. Review laundry contracts, take part in laundry contractors’ selection and monitor performance.  
  • Manage equipment supply and monitor equipment replenishment to ensure adequate equipment uplift for normal catering operation.  
  • Prepare budget and forecast for equipment, logistics and laundry expenses and perform monthly expenses variance analysis. Provide support during catering disruption.  
  • Review, investigate and reply to crew and passengers' feedback and management enquires, and take remedy measures when required.  
  • Communicate new equipment and procedural changes by updating COM, Equipment Manual, PPM, SEM or via NTBP, Crew Weekly, The Hub etc. Perform cross-functional tasks in line with your role level after sufficient training if & when required.  
  • Provide support to Dining Operations, Supply Chain & Inventory Management Manager on projects when required. Follow all reasonable instructions as directed by team manager/Head of Dining Excellence.  

Requirements

  • University education, preferably in business administration, hotel & catering or aviation logistic related discipline. A minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience in airline related industry.  
  • People management.  
  • Good analytical and quantitative skills  
  • Good planning, organisation skills and project management coupled with excellent  numerate/budgeting sense  
  • Good command of written and spoken English & Chinese; communication and interpersonal skills.  
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills and self-motivated.  
  • Computer literacy e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word.  
  • Practical skills on Macros, Project, Cognos, Qlikview, Brio.  
  • Knowledge of SAP will be advantageous.  
  • Relevant skills in galley space analysis and planning
