Role Introduction
A permanent, full-time Assistant Engineering Manager position is available in the Melbourne team.
This role will oversee operational shifts and certify aircraft maintenance to ensure compliance with regulatory authorities and the Company's business requirements regarding safety, reliability, efficiency, and customer service. Additionally, it will be responsible for developing and managing the team to support professional development and meet operational goals.

- Supervise the shift to ensure the team is able to deliver a safe, efficient and effective operation.
- Oversee the Engineering team by providing leadership, guidance, development, and mentorship to drive performance and effectively address challenges.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspection, servicing, defect rectification and issue certification for Cathay and Air Hong Kong aircraft as rostered.
- Perform ground-based aircraft health monitoring before arrival to assess aircraft serviceability and respond accordingly.
- Perform additional aircraft maintenance as requested by Cathay Maintenance Control and Maintenance Control Planning Hong Kong as appropriate to qualification.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspection, servicing, defect rectification and issue certification for third party customer’s aircraft as applicable.
- Perform onsite oversight to performance of the ground handling third party suppliers at the responsible station(s) – base station and partner station(s)
- Provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers
- Act as Engineering Manager and take on all associated duties when needed.
- Ensure safe working practices are applied and that all accidents are investigated and reported
- Administrative tasks include employee and maintenance of records, managing SAP, maintaining station logs and records, and handling technical documentation.
Requirements
Academic Qualifications
- Must hold basic license HKAR 66 B1 or equivalent foreign license
- Must hold all appropriate aircraft approval types for the station at level 3 standard
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience of aircraft engineering as Engineer or equivalent
- Have (or be willing to receive) recognised management training
- Demonstrated expertise, management and leadership qualities
