By joining the Cathay Cadet Pilot Programme you will receive sponsored training to obtain a Commercial Pilot License and become a pilot to operate regional, long haul and ultra-long haul flights. Cadets will undergo ground training with leading institutions in Hong Kong and around the world. Flying training will be conducted at world-renowned flying training organisations. Applications to the ~80-weeks Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Programme are open year-round.

Requirements
- The right to live and work in Hong Kong or the Chinese mainland (Candidates eligible for IANG / TTPS are also welcomed to apply)
- Graduated from secondary school with good passes in English language and Mathematics or Science. A university degree or aviation major will be an advantage
- Physically fit and qualified for a Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD) Class 1 Medical Certificate*
- Able to meet our flight deck reach requirements. Candidates may be asked to complete a static reach test and flight simulator reach assessment
- Achieve ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) English Language Proficiency level 4 or above
Refer to HKCAD policy for the entire requirement for fitness to fly (HKCAD Aeromedical). As the position you are applying for is a Safety Sensitive Role, you must also pass a pre-employment drug test. Testing will be completed following the HKCAD Guidance for screening of Psychoactive Substances - Annex B, CAD373 (CAD373).
You will receive more information about joining Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong as a Second Officer upon successful completion of the Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Programme.

Requirements
- ICAO Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) or Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with a Multi Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR) and same state ATPL examinations credits – obtained without exemption or conversion
- Minimum 250 hours of flying experience (1,000 hours and Multi-Crew Cooperation preferred)
- Must be eligible for HKCPL on conversion according to DCA607 (Please refer to the HKCAD for the details of the specific requirements)
- A valid Class 1 Medical Certificate
- ICAO English language proficiency Level 4 or above
The selection process consists of pre-employment medical check including HKCAD Class 1 medical*. Successful candidates are required to pass pre-employment background check (including criminal records).

Requirements
- ICAO Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) or Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with a Multi Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR) and same state ATPL examinations credits – obtained without exemption or conversion

- Minimum total flying time of 1,500 hours (3,000 hours preferred) including:
Minimum 500 hours as P1, of which a maximum 250 hours can be P1 U/S.

And including A) or B) below
A) Civil aircraft for multi-crew operations with MTOW >45,000 kg
- 500 hours
Or
B) 1,500 Hours on civil aircraft certified for multi-crew operations with MTOW >10,000 kg or aircraft certified and configured for more than 19 passengers, including:
- 500 hours (including at least 250 P1 and/or P1 U/S hours) in the preceding 5 years;
Or
- 100 sectors in the preceding 5 years
The selection process consists of pre-employment medical check (including HKCAD Class 1 medical*) and background check (including criminal records).
Successful candidates will be considered for the position on any fleet type that Cathay Pacific operates, including A321neo, A330, A350, B777 and B747.
