Role Introduction

Reports to: Taxation Service Manager

The taxation accountant sits under Taxation team under the Financial Services Department mainly responsible for supporting the Group’s corporate and salaries tax compliance, advisory and transfer pricing matters. The taxation accountant will also be responsible for providing assistance to different BUs and support business development / changes for the Cathay group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare / review corporate tax in Hong Kong and some of the overseas countries 
  • Assist in transfer pricing documentation preparation and coordination  
  • Assist in tax provision review, budgeting, and forecast exercises 
  • Assist in corporate tax advice and handling tax investigations/audits 
  • Perform research on tax issues and legislative changes in Hong Kong and foreign tax laws  
  • Work closely with country and regional teams, other departments and group companies  
  • Provide assistance in salaries tax advice and compliance matters from employer’s perspective  
  • Support to tax automation project for data collection, tax document filing, and tax calculations/analysis 
  • Handle administrative tasks – such as arranging tax payments, settlement of invoices and routine filing 

Requirements

  • University Graduate in Business/Economics/Accounting/IT or related disciplines 
  • Qualified accountant in (CPA or equivalent) 
  • At least 3 years’ tax / transfer pricing experience in accounting firm or multinational organization 
  • Experience in salary tax, transfer pricing and/or overseas taxation is a plus; and experience in using SAP or MS Office applications is advantageous 
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Cantonese/Chinese 
  • Proactively seeks guidance and asks thoughtful questions; and takes accountability for executing tasks to a high standard  
  • A good team player working collaboratively with others 
  • Personable with a positive attitude and respectful of others 
  • Works smart, taking the initiative to do things in a more effective way; and strong analytical mind and interpersonal skills 
  • Able to work under pressure and being flexible when necessary to meet deadlines
