Solution Analyst - Technical Data Modeling

Role Introduction

Reports to: Senior Solution Lead

Join Cathay as a Solution Lead in our Business Intelligence Competency Centre (BICC) Solution Centre. You will provide subject‑matter technical competence in designing, implementing, maintaining, and administrating big data and machine learning infrastructure, defining solutions to bridge gaps, ensuring project scope is maintained, and delivering solutions in line with agreed designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for long‑term enterprise use.
• Capture and analyse business requirements and translate them into technically viable solutions.
• Collaborate with application development teams to implement data strategies and data flows.
• Develop, implement, and support data products and applications aligned with business needs.
• Review and validate physical data models to ensure performance and scalability.
• Ensure solutions comply with security policies, data governance frameworks, and quality standards.
• Plan, execute, and test end‑to‑end solutions, including performance, integration, and security.
• Support pre‑project consulting across a portfolio of business intelligence and data initiatives.
• Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation actions throughout delivery.
• Participate in Agile product teams to continuously experiment, iterate, and deliver outcomes.

Requirements

Degree in Information Technology or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.

• 6 years of related IT experience covering but not limited to:
  • Software development
  • System analysis
  • Business analysis
  • Solution definition
  • System Testing
• At least 2 years of working experience in implementing large scale data warehouse with hands-on experience in ETL (data modelling, data integration/ETL/ ELT, metadata management, data quality management etc.)
• Experience with dimensional modelling including star schema and slowly changing dimensions etc.
• Competent on RDBMS including SQL query and physical design tuning
• Knowledge in Airflow, Python, Spark , AWS Lambda, Glue
• Hands on experience in software / data driven SDLC and agile development project
• Proven troubleshooting skills; ability to identify patterns and generate ideas
• Experience in working and managing vendors in delivering quality and within target timeline
• Airline or travel industry knowledge is highly beneficial
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, leveraging both logic and creativity; Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; Professional, passionate, innovative, self-motivated and able to present solutions to diverse groups of stakeholders
