Role Introduction

Reports To: Performance & Efficiency Engineering Manager

This role is part of a professional team in our Flight Operations Department, which consists of flight crew and ground staff teams, both working to ensure the highest standards of operational efficiency and service. Safety is intrinsic to everything we do.

As a Senior Performance & Efficiency Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of take-off, enroute, and landing systems, ensuring their 24/7 availability for aircraft operations. You will serve as the key liaison between fleet offices, managing fleet-specific performance issues, and coordinating with aircraft manufacturers on technical performance matters. Additionally, you will lead and mentor a team of junior engineers in conducting aircraft performance evaluations, operations engineering, and weight and balance analyses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain take-off, enroute, and landing systems 24/7 to support operational and regulatory requirements, including participating in standby roster duty during non-office hours.
  • Develop and enhance methodologies to produce aircraft performance data for flight crew operations, flight planning systems, and regulatory reporting to ensure regulatory compliance, operational safety and fuel efficiency.
  • Lead e-enabling projects by developing EFB applications, procedures, and products relating to aircraft performance, operational efficiency, and weight & balance to improve operational safety and efficiency.
  • Lead fuel efficiency initiatives and projects, proposing improvements that enhance efficiency. Continuously review operational processes, procedures, and design changes to enhance efficiency while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead aircraft performance evaluation considering operational and commercial requirements in support of:
    • New aircraft and engine acquisitions,
    • Payload, fuel burn, and block time forecast for new routes/services/destinations,
    • Fuel budget,
    • Airport studies,
    • Noise and emissions analysis.
  • Manage and implement design changes, manufacturer updates, and modifications that impact aircraft performance and/or weight & balance; provide recommendations on implementing changes to operations, while considering operational safety and efficiency.
  • Manage and monitor weight & balance data/information to ensure weight & balance operations are in accordance with regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Lead the design and development of weight & balance CG limitation envelopes to ensure accurate and optimum calculating logics are applied for best operational efficiency.
  • Approve weight & balance reports when qualified.
  • Develop alternative methods and automation/programming solutions to improve operational processes and efficiency, such as the:
    • Development of all engine/engine inoperative procedures,
    • Development of enroute diversion procedures.
  • Manage the aircraft performance monitoring program across different fleets, including assigning and conducting audit flights to collect and analyze in-flight data that supports safety and efficiency; oversee the aircraft performance training for flight crew by giving classroom briefings and developing course materials that follow the Company’s training policy and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Manage, lead and mentor junior engineers. Provide on-job technical training, coaching and appraisal reviews.
  • Undertake flight operations projects and studies as directed by Performance & Efficiency Engineering Manager/Head; deputize for Performance & Efficiency Engineering Manager when required.
  • Coordinate with internal and external parties.

Requirements

Knowledge 

  • In-depth knowledge in aircraft performance, flight operations procedures and manufacturer’s software/application programs are required. 
  • Degree in Engineering/Science discipline. 

Skills 

  • Strong analytical, numerical, and training skills. 

Experience 

  • Over 10 years of working experience in aircraft performance, operations engineering, and weight & balance
