Role Introduction

Reports to: Group Quality Assurance Manager - Cabin

You will be part of the Group Safety and Operational Risk Management team in Hong Kong, where you will play a key role in supporting and maintaining an effective quality assurance program across Flight Operations and Inflight Services.

As an Assistant Manager Group Quality Assurance - Flight & Cabin, you will lead and conduct audits, support compliance with regulatory and industry standards, and collaborate with teams to enhance operational safety and quality. In this role, you will gain exposure to a wide range of airline operations, develop expertise in quality systems, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Quality System and Quality Assurance

  • Conduct audits effectively, efficiently and according to documented procedures and planned schedule.
  • Act as a Lead Auditor and/or Auditor for Consolidated Port Audits, Internal Audits, Supplier Audits and Corporate audits as per qualification level, contributing to the number of audits as assigned by the relevant GQM, to meet the company, regulatory or IOSA requirements.
  • Assist the GQMFC in preparation for internal and supplier audits such as preparing the ISARP matrix, yearly schedule, and checklists creation, etc; act as the Continuous Monitoring Inspection Inspector; provide administrative support to CMI programme; support the continued listing of the Cathay Group airlines on the IATA IOSA registry with a focus on FLT, DSP & CAB IOSA disciplines.
  • Assist the GQAMF and GQAMC with the biennial IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). This includes owning and assessing operational activities to ensure ongoing conformance with the relevant IOSA standards, briefing ground operations teams, and producing the conformance report for the FLT, DSP, and CAB disciplines.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date and complete audit records in Aviation Quality Database; provide periodic updates to management about outstanding actions.
  • Review and provide recommendations on improving quality system performance and effectiveness; assist flight operations and inflight service delivery sections in preparing documentation for the quality management system; support the GQMFC in preparing for and presenting the annual Management Review with the FOP, ISD, and IOC GMs and the quality committee.

Compliance

  • Support FOP, ISD & IOC quality and safety outcomes including implementation and monitoring of the relevant safety and quality activities and processes, to ensure ongoing compliance with all legal, regulatory and IOSA requirements, organisational standards and approved procedures; maintain an accurate understanding of FOP, ISD & IOC AOC support activities and providing effective guidance and leadership at the working level.

Documentation and Records

  • Coordinate and monitor documentation and records systems including format, distribution and revision control within FOP, ISD & IOC; work with relevant functional areas and related sections in FOP, ISD & IOC to assist with documentation of all relevant FOP, ISD & IOC operations, processes, procedures and policies.

General Tasks

  • Represent the Company and/or Department at relevant meetings in a professional and loyal manner; assist in the response to a crisis involving the Cathay Group airlines as a member of the Care Team; develop and maintain an effective relationship with the flight operations departments based on mutual trust and understanding, including participation in departmental management meetings.
  • Deputize for the GQAMF/GQAMC as required; extensive duty travel required to conduct audits or other company related tasks; coordinate various external and in-house training and maintaining training records for the Quality Flight and Cabin team; adhere to company policies as published in the Cathay Group airlines intranet and in company manuals.

Requirements

Education qualifications

  • Tertiary education or equivalent.

Professional qualifications (if applicable)

  • Lead Auditor qualifications; Dispatch, Engineering and/or Pilots license (current or in previous 5 years).
  • Dangerous Goods Awareness; IATA Operational Safety Audit awareness.

Experiences

  • 3-5 years operational experience in the airline industry, preferably in flight, cabin operations, dispatch, engineering; 1-3 years in a management or supervisory role.
  • Adequate and appropriate safety and/or quality systems experience.

Job related knowledge

  • Ability for good understanding of aircraft technical systems for aircraft operated by the Company.
  • Understanding of cabin operations or airline-related operational disciplines; Understanding of cabin crew safety procedures.
  • Good understanding of commercial airline flight operations and/or dispatch operations. Sound understanding of Aviation regulatory frameworks and requirements.
  • Care Team training.

Skills and language requirements

  • Excellent command of both spoken and written English; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Strong problem solving and analytical skills; Data and process literate; Computer literate - Microsoft Office
