Accountant
Role Introduction
Reports to: Head of Finance - Cargo
The accountant sits under the Cargo Finance team in the Financial Services Department, mainly responsible for providing day-to-day accounting services to CGO and assisting the Head of Finance in providing accurate, relevant, timely and insightful financial information to CGO for decision making. The accountant will also prepare monthly reports and analysis to provide insightful insights to the team.
Key Responsibilities
Business Partnering
- Prepare monthly reports (e.g. Monthly Result Packs, Commentary Reports, Balance Sheet Schedules, etc.) with analysis of financial results and variance analysis
- Provide support to other CGO FIN team members and BUs in relation to cost monitoring and revenue analysis
- Enhance cost analysis through providing detailed breakdowns of unit costs and trends across the network to help identify inefficiencies
- Proactively reach out to key business stakeholders to build strong working relationships and acquire business knowledge needed to provide insights
- Assist in maintenance, monitoring and improvement of internal controls and processes around revenue and cargo cost validation and compliance; and assist in development of sales and cost reports for business stakeholders to track performance and fulfil needs of an evolving business
- Support build-up of new reports in SAC/dashboard, streamline monthly report process
- Ensure financial reports are properly prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, the CX’s accounting policies, Listing Rules and other statutory requirements
- Prepare annual / interim audit schedules; Review, process, and upload general ledger postings into the accounting systems; and AP processing for IATA invoices
- Issue Debit notes/Invoices/IATA disputes, and follow up rejection from counterpart
Budget/Forecasts
- Work out the budget figures based on assumptions from departments and BOP; and Provide analysis against comparatives; prepare budget/forecasts templates and upload figures in BPC and ensure accuracy
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting or related discipline, with a professional designation in
Accountancy - Minimum 5 years accounting, financial reporting or management reporting. Audit experience is advantageous
- Strong skills in MS Office applications, especially in Excel
- Experience in using SAP advantageous
- Strong interpersonal skills and presentation skills with the ability to professionally communicate in a multicultural environment
- Proficient in English and Chinese
- Well organized with effective problem-solving skills and analytical mind
- Fast learner, strong sense of ownership, result-oriented, detail-minded and committed to deadline
- Able to work under pressure and being flexible when necessary to meet deadlines
- Able to work both independently as well as being an effective team player
