Role Introduction

Reports to: Head of Sustainability – Commercial & Innovation

At Cathay Pacific, we are on a mission to move people forward in life. Sustainability leadership to address the environmental impacts associated with flying is a key part of this journey and a key pillar of our company strategy. As part of our ambitious sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) strategy, Cathay has developed the leading Corporate SAF Programme in Asia; a collaboration with leading corporates helping to scale adoption of SAF.

This role is responsible for advancing Cathay’s commercial sustainability efforts within Cargo, with a focus on scaling partnerships under the Corporate SAF Programme and developing new commercial opportunities. The role will work closely with the Cathay Cargo and Air Hong Kong teams to design differentiated sustainability offerings and contribute to Cathay’s broader leadership in sustainable aviation. While primarily focused on Cargo, the role may also support other opportunities across the commercial sustainability portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Cargo Sustainability Strategy & Partnerships

  • Manage and grow strategic cargo partnerships under the Corporate SAF Programme, deepening customer engagement and scaling impact
  • Develop commercial strategies and business models tailored to the unique dynamics of the air cargo sector, drive business development activities and manage the full sales cycle for cargo sustainability offerings
  • Collaborate closely with Cathay Cargo and Air Hong Kong teams to embed sustainability into core offerings and customer touchpoints, ensuring alignment with operational and commercial priorities
  • Lead the development of a holistic sustainability proposition for Cathay Cargo—integrating SAF, terminal operations, and ground services—to positively differentiate Cathay and demonstrate sustainability leadership to cargo customers.
  • Manage the development and continuous improvement of a new SAF proposition for Cathay Cargo’s booking platform, helping to mainstream voluntary SAF contributions in cargo sales
  • Shape compelling, scalable sustainability propositions that build trust and credibility with both corporate and individual customers–working closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure transparency, integrity, and alignment with Cathay’s broader sustainability commitments

Commercial Sustainability Initiatives

  • Support the development and delivery of B2B and B2C commercial sustainability offerings beyond Cargo, including engagement with corporate travel clients under the Corporate SAF Programme, assisting in building business cases, customer propositions pricing models, and commercial frameworks that support voluntary SAF uptake

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a key interface between the Group Sustainability Development team and Cargo business units, building strong working relationships and supporting joint initiatives
  • Represent Cathay in external customer and industry engagements related to sustainable air cargo and SAF
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Procurement & Aircraft Trading, Sales, Digital Experience, Engineering, and Finance to bring new sustainability-linked offerings to market

Requirements

  • A degree in business administration, management, sustainability or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial roles in cargo, aviation, sustainability, or consulting
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a proven track record in driving sales, achieving commercial targets, and building strong customer relationships
  • Commercial experience and deep understanding of the aviation cargo market and its unique dynamics
  • Specific experience in managing SAF-related opportunities in the cargo sector is a strong advantage
  • Strong knowledge of SAF, including relevant certification and reporting standards, quality and integrity considerations, and emissions accounting across Scope 1/3–to support customer engagement and programme integrity
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight timelines
  • Strong organisational awareness and ability to navigate complex, cross-functional environments
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse stakeholders. Skilled in delivering clear, strategic insights and recommendations
  • Proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, with a strong bias for action and flexibility to adapt in a dynamic, fast-evolving environment
