Solution Specialist
Role Introduction
Reports to: Senior Solution Lead / Solution Lead
This role is part of the Solution Centre in our Information Technology (IMT) department who strive for continuous improvements so that we can provide you with a seamless experience with Cathay Pacific.
As the Solution Specialist, you will play a crucial role in translating business requirements into functional and technical specifications. You will work closely with both various stakeholders to contribute to the end-to-end solution development of software applications, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, user-friendly applications which reflect Cathay Pacific’s vision to becoming one of the world’s greatest service brands.
With your expertise, skills and knowledge in solution delivery, you will be assigned to be part of our Revenue and Airline Planning solution team to work on systems which support all of our revenue and planning operations. Enabling you to gain exposure in revenue planning that only a world-renowned airline can give.
Key Responsibilities
- Elicit and analyse requirements and assess solutions options from a system perspective
- Support solution design and contribute expertise and detailed knowledge to ensure high level design decisions are able to be delivered
- Contribute expertise in supporting the development of technical specification=
- Contribute or participate in application development if required
- Maintain timely communications to business stakeholders throughout project life cycle to ensure common understanding of requirements and impact to business area
- Provide incident supports for in-production systems and manage end user expectations
- Participate in quality assurance and testing of solution components to ensure the implementation meets requirements and complies with all relevant Cathay Pacific standards
- Collaborate with other IT domains to drive innovation
- Keep abreast of latest trends in technology, industry and corresponding business domain’s strategy, business plans
Requirements
- Degree qualifications in Information Technology, Business or related area
- Possess minimum 4 years of related IT experience
- Proven experience in applying Software Engineering best practices and techniques such as structured analysis, use cases and formal estimation. Ability to listen and articulate ideas verbally and in written formats to a broad range of audiences; ability to ask probing questions and deliver presentations
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills; promoting healthy relationships and team dynamics with internal and external stakeholders
- Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, leveraging both logic and creativity; strong troubleshooting skills; ability to identify patterns and generate ideas
- Focus on the end user’s or customer’s needs.
- Good understanding of technology concepts, trends and capabilities
- Degree qualifications in Information Technology, Business or related area
- Effective verbal and written communication skill
- Experience in Oracle database, SQL, Java, Web development, JavaScript will be a plus
