Role Introduction

Reports to: Senior Solution Lead

Join Cathay as a Solution Lead in our Engineering Solution Centre. You will be the one to manage advanced IT systems that streamline engineering operations for our people and enhance experience for our customers across our global network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pre-project consulting for a portfolio of initiatives
  • Capture and communicate business direction, challenges, and requirements
  • Recommend commercially and technically viable ideas to improve business performance
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and architects to design effective technical solutions
  • Plan, design, develop, implement, and support IT products and applications to meet customer needs
  • Act as an escalation point for solution analysts to deliver business solutions
  • Initiate, define, plan, and execute tasks and initiatives
  • Test all aspects of solutions, including security, performance, and integration
  • Manage daily activities of the software development team and external third parties as required
  • Coach solution analysts on all aspects of their role

Requirements

  • Degree qualification in an Information Technology-related discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in software development, system analysis, business analysis, solution definition, or system testing
  • Experience in client-facing roles with successful relationship management is an advantage
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional, passionate, innovative, and self-motivated with the ability to present solutions to diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, using both logic and creativity
  • Proven troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify patterns and generate ideas
  • Knowledge of the airline or travel industry is beneficial
  • Hands-on experience in database solution development using Oracle, SQL, or PL/SQL is required; experience in Java development or business intelligence tools is an advantage
  • Experience in system migration, integration, and upgrade projects
  • Solid software development skills are highly beneficial
