Role Introduction

The role holder will be the subject matter expert for all rewards activities in the region and is accountable for designing, implementing and managing rewards & benefits programmes and processes across multiple locations in the region to ensure right rewards frameworks and effectively incentivise and recognise high performance to support the region to achieve business objectives.

Accountable for analyzing employee data to identify trends, improve retention, and enhance overall organizational performance. By translating complex data into actionable insights to support decision-making processes that align with business goals and work towards region’s people agenda

Key Responsibilities

High Performance Culture & Performance and Rewards

·       Own performance management pay cycle and ensure effectiveness

·       Support business units through alignment and consistency of pay philosophy including collaborating with Regional Talent Manager to manage the annual calibration process within the region to ensure a clear link to pay at year end.

·       Collaborate closely with Regional Head of People, SEA&O, Area/Country People team and Head Office to review employees’ compensation details to ensure alignment to market.

·       Provide attrition and pay compensation analysis for understanding of internal vs external market conditions.

·       Translate complex frameworks and concepts to stakeholders and teams to ensure principles are well understood so as to drive a pay for performance culture

Rewards programmes design and management 

  • Contribute to the design and delivery of competitive direct rewards programmes that are aligned across all markets and are in compliance with country specific legal requirements. 
  • Propose and manage the implementation of employee incentive programmes regionally to identify and respond to the needs of internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment to global rewards incentives framework, including individual employee eligibility and cases review and coordination, project and stakeholder management across internal working groups globally.  
  • Plan and manage regional salary structure development. 
  • Conduct regular pay and benefits benchmarking exercises, market analyses and other cost modelling as required.
  • Collaborate with global total rewards team to manage rewards review including cross-border package, localisation and taxation studies and allowances review.  
  • Provide support for the region, including ad-hoc analysis and modelling/ material preparation, review of all temporary and permanent reward change submissions across the region

Regional advisory and management 

  • Partner with Regional People teams, Area People team and business units regionally to provide COE advice on all rewards matters, supporting the business to acquire, motivate and retain talent.  
  • Support labour and industrial relations benchmarking exercises within the region. 
  • Ensure alignment to global job evaluation, including BAU salary benchmarking for new positions or changed roles, and ad-hoc job evaluation exercise, manage impact analyses and implementation planning.  
  • Support Regional Head of People, SEA&O on day-to-day rewards matters and collaborate with People Operations teams to ensure pay data integrity in HR systems 
  • Participate in other HR or rewards initiatives and projects regionally / globally as assigned.

Management of annual compensation cycle

  • Collaborate with Head office global rewards team on annual salary structure and market range review to provide key insights to Regional Head of People, SEA&O.
  • Facilitate the regular salary review, discretionary bonus, and profit share scheme processes, including planning, modelling, and implementation with business units and ensure compliance to global total rewards framework.
  • Provide guidance to Area/Country People team /Area Management teams and line managers through alignment and consistency of performance management including managing the annual calibration process within the region to ensure a clear link to pay at year end
  • Manage the annual compensation management cycle, including the compensation management technology system and collaborate with People Operations team on payroll execution.

Data insights

· Collaborate closely with business units and people teams to identify areas for automation and have a strong understanding of digital tools to automate and improve people work processes for the region whilst ensuring alignment to Head Office processes

· Provide key data insights for business / People teams and work towards a data driven people decision.

· Participate and provide support for projects as required in relations to People data insights.

People development and performance management

  • Lead and encourage team to effectively collaborate with others achieve success and lead by example in accordance with Cathay’s core values.
  • Develop employees with high potential and identify learning opportunities to ensure appropriate training and development.
  • Maintain active and ongoing dialogue in relation to employee goals and individual performance.
  • Actively engage with employees to enhance communication and their understanding of team / department goals

E&A
• Emergency and Accident and Crisis Response responsibilities as required

 

Academic Qualifications

• A tertiary degree in Human Resources or a related field is an advantage

Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

• At least 10 years’ experience in rewards and benefits processes in a cross-country environment

• Strong experience in local country legal frameworks in SEA&O

• Airline experience is an advantage

• Strong cultural sensitivity with high cross cultural communication ability

• Demonstrably good judgment and ability to remain impartial

• Strong knowledge of compensation and benefits concepts and frameworks

• Strong customer service orientation

• Efficient and able to manage multiple priorities

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and management ability

• Continuous improvement mindset

• A high degree of technological ability
