Role Introduction

Reports to: Business Intelligence and Integration Manager

Join Cathay as a Senior Solution Lead in our Business Intelligence Competency Solution Centre. You will be the one to manage advanced IT systems that streamline operations for our people and enhance experience for our customers across our global network.

Leverage your expertise to lead technical delivery in the Business Intelligence Competency Solution Centre, ensuring we deliver on our brand promise and drive organizational success together with our wide-reaching solution teams around the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Engagement – Consult on pre-project initiatives, capture business requirements, and recommend growth and productivity improvements
  • Cross-Department Collaboration – Maintain a holistic view of IT and business, working closely with senior management and solution providers
  • Technology Leadership – Drive API Management and Developer Portal design and implementation, ensuring scalable, cloud-enabled solutions
  • System Integration – Lead development of real-time messaging services between internal and external systems
  • Solution Architecture – Collaborate with developers and architects to design and validate technical solutions aligned with business needs
  • Project Delivery – Manage medium-to-large scale initiatives, oversee testing (security, performance, integration), and ensure timely risk mitigation
  • Team Management – Provide organizational insight, resource planning, and mentorship to team members and external vendors
  • Agile Practices – Participate in Agile teams, act as surrogate Product Owner or BU SME, and coach Solution Analysts
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement – Generate ideas to enhance system design and streamline delivery processes
  • Industry Awareness – Stay updated on technology trends and business domain developments to guide strategic decisions

Requirements

  • Degree qualification in Information Technology related discipline, Masters preferred
  • 10+ years of related IT experience covering but not limited to:
    • Software development
    • System analysis
    • Business analysis
    • Solution definition
    • System Testing
  • At least 4 years of hands-on implementation experience in designing, deploying and operating large scale Apache Kafka(Confluent Cloud equivalent is a plus)
  • Experience in overall application integration technologies, implementations and architectures; covering application development methodologies, Message-oriented application design, Event Driven application design
  • Deep expertise in Kafka partitioning strategies, replication, schema registry, Kafka Connect and REST Proxy
  • Experience in working with public cloud such as AWS, Azure, AliCloud or GCP – MSK, Confluent Cloud, IBM MQ, AWS SQS, or IBM MQ is highly desirable
  • Experience with infra-as-code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD for Kafka deployment
  • Knowledge of Database Management, IT Security, and Auditing and best practices
  • Strong programming skills in Java or Python (for custom Kafka Streams, ksqlDB, or Apache Flink)
  • Proven extensive client facing experience with successful relationship management
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing a software development team
  • Excels in presenting solutions to diverse stakeholders, analytical and creative problem-solving, troubleshooting, and driving technical innovation while fostering collaboration across global teams
