Role Introduction

Reports To: General Manager Lifestyle Products

The Head of Cathay Holidays sits under the Customer Relationship & Retail Department, mainly responsible for the overall leadership and commercial success of the airline’s holidays division. The Head of Cathay Holiday will be accountable for the formulation and execution of Holidays’ strategy, the profit and loss (P&L) of the business, driving growth, transformation, and innovation by leveraging the airline’s brand strength and extensive membership base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full accountability and ownership of the Holidays business P&L, ensuring revenue growth, cost control and sustainable profitability
  • Develop the overall vision and strategy to generate the target profitability and elevate customers’ lifestyle through Cathay Holidays’ offerings
  • Lead the transformation, drive the execution of long-term strategies and short-term business plan leveraging the brand and membership advantages.
  • Set the standard of consistent delivery of exceptional customer service, drive the cross-functional team to enhance the overall service delivery of all the product offerings from Holidays. Uphold the brand ethos and enhance Cathay Shop’s unique positioning and personality.
  • Identify and capitalize on synergies between the airline and holidays business, maximizing cross-selling and ancillary revenue opportunities and provide leadership to the development and sales of exclusive holiday packages and personalized offers for local, in-bound, and out-bound members
  • Oversee end-to-end holiday product development, supplier partnerships (hotels, destination services), and service delivery to ensure high quality and compliance. Implement robust risk management, safety, and crisis response protocols for holiday operations
  • Keep abreast of the industry changes, lead the continuous optimisation of Cathay Holidays platform together with Digital Experience team to achieve Cathay Holidays’ long-term digital direction
  • Manage relationships with key internal and external
    stakeholders, including airline leadership, travel partners, regulators, and industry bodies. Lead commercial discussion with external parties on topics such as but not limited to inventory sourcing and developing strategic partnerships to optimise value
  • Represent the holidays business at industry events and in public forums
  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach and develop a high-performance team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability, demonstrating Cathay values of being “can-do”, “thoughtful” and “progressive”. Drive employee engagement, training and professional development initiatives. Build the rapport and lead the cross-functional team (across departments), coordinate over the resources allocation to ensure alignment on the direction and synchronisation in executions

Requirements

  • University education or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the travel, tourism, or airline sectors, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Ability to speak and write in English, Cantonese, and preferably Mandarin, fluently
  • Strong commercial acumen with customer-centric mindset, proven track record of achieving commercial targets and driving business growth
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to take data and insights driven decision
  • A strong people leader who can articulate vision clearly, drive team engagement, and inspire cross-functional teams to deliver step changes with effective strategy
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and growth mindset, with track record in change management and leading complex strategic initiatives for the organisation.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and take calculated risks in launching new business
    ventures
  • Experience in managing airline’s Holiday business, travel agency or OTA will be a distinct advantage
