Role Introduction

A permanent, full-time position is available for an Airport Operations Manager within our team at Sydney Airport.

This position is responsible for managing airport operations and ensuring each shift runs smoothly, all while adhering to established safety, security, and quality standards. We are looking for someone who prioritises safety and operational excellence, ensuring that every customer feels special, valued, and acknowledged in all situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and oversee Cathay employees and Ground Handling Agents dedicated to Cathay flight operations to achieve operational excellence
  • Act as the escalation point for Cathay employees and Ground Handling Agents
  • Continuously drive improvement in operational performance, effectiveness and productivity
  • Ensure people and team (including suppliers) are up-to-date with the latest product knowledge Proactively support the use of new technologies in customer services
  • Proactively prevent and manage flight disruptions and irregularities
  • Build a strong and motivated team, ensure the right people are in place to foster positive team spirit and facilitate teamwork
  • Rigorously execute corporate safety, security and quality policies to ensure the station, employees and suppliers are fully compliant with all regulatory requirements and quality standards
  • Act as the Airline’s Operational Duty Holder (ODH) delegate of the airport adhering to the risk escalation process to the Functional Duty Holder (GM ASD)

Requirements

  • 3 years’ airport operational/ customer handling experience
  • Experience in a supervisory/ management capacity
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English is required
  • Superior independent working capabilities with strong decision-making skills
  • Strong customer service mentality with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle different operational modes such as normal operations, disruption, Emergency and Accident and contingency situations
