Assistant Performance & Efficiency Engineer (18-month Contract)

Role Introduction

Reports to: ​​Senior Performance & Efficiency Engineer​ 

​​This role is part of a professional team in our Flight Operations Department, which consists of flight crew and ground staff teams, both working to ensure the highest standards of operational efficiency and service. Safety is intrinsic to everything we do. 
 
As an Assistant Performance & Efficiency Engineer, you will be responsible for undertaking aircraft performance, operations engineering and weight & balance tasks in meetings regulatory safety and operational efficiency requirements.​ 

Key Responsibilities

• Provide aircraft performance data for Flight Crew Operations Manual, operational flight planning system, oxygen compliance report for HKCAD etc 
• Evaluate and design flight procedures to mitigate noise level during take-off and landing to avoid noise infringement. Monitor aircrafts noise and emissions level 
• Evaluate new routes and services to assist in new aircraft performance evaluation as directed by senior engineers. Provide support to other departments regularly on payload capability, fuel burn and flight time studies in meeting commercial and operational requirements 
• Provide forecast in the annual fuel budget and analyse for fuel budget discrepancy as directed by senior engineers. Measure and report to management on fuel efficiency. Work closely with the other departments on fuel issues 
• Produce aircraft weight and CG index data to the passenger and freighter computer loading systems 
• Assist in designing the Weight & Balance CG Limitation envelope in accordance with regulatory and operational requirement for seating configuration change 
• Evaluate aircraft performance design changes proposed by manufacturers on aircraft performance to CPA Group aircraft, to ensure operational safety and efficiency 
• Fly as an observer in revenue and ferry flights to gather and analyse in-flight performance data contributing to operational safety and efficiency 
• Undertake flight operations projects and studies as directed by senior engineers/managers 
• Develop and improve training and presentation skill.

Requirements

Knowledge 

• Aeronautical or relevant background, and familiar with manufacturer’s software/application programs. 
• Degree in Engineering/Science discipline. 

Skills 

• Strong analytical, numerical, and programming skills. 
• Good computer literacy in modern languages and analytics tools. 

Experience 

• Over 2 years of working experience in aircraft performance, operations engineering, and weight & balance. 
• Experience with Tableau, Flysmart / Onboard Performance Tool applications, and manufacturer software would be a definite advantage. 
• Candidates with less qualifications and experience may be considered for a Performance & Efficiency Engineer Trainee position.
