Role Introduction

Reports to: Talent Management Manager

The Talent Management Lead holds the pivotal responsibility of driving and implementing robust integrated talent management, talent development, and succession planning initiatives. As a vital member of the Talent Management team, this role reports to and supports the Talent Management Manager in promoting and executing talent management initiatives on a global scale. The Talent Management Lead is expected to forge close collaboration with Talent Management Managers, Learning Managers and business leaders to proactively identify, nurture, and retain talent through strategic interventions. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, drive and implement a diverse range of talent management and development initiatives, including but not limited to the Corporate Career Development Programme for high-potential employees and the Corporate Mentorship Programme.
  • Provide guidance and coaching in the career development of high-potential individuals from various business units and regions. This entails conducting comprehensive career conversations, designing customised career development plans, and ensuring diligent follow-up on the progress and growth of these high-potential individuals, etc.
  • Champion and promote mentorship. Take charge of the designing and executing of the Corporate Mentorship Programme to engage and foster meaningful connections between mentors and mentees and cultivate a continuous learning culture.
  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to design, implement and promote innovative talent management initiatives that significantly enhance our people’s capabilities and drive business development. This includes expanding and enriching career development support for high-potential individuals across various levels and geographical regions, as well as providing career coaching for employees, etc.
  • Keep abreast of the latest market practices on talent management, continuously conducting research on best market practices in talent management and development. Leverage this knowledge to propose bespoken recommendations that align with the unique Cathay culture and cater to our specific business needs.
  • Conduct thorough analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of various talent management and development initiatives, offering insightful recommendations for programme enhancement.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the formulation of talent management strategies, leveraging expertise and industry insights to shape the organisation’s long-term talent management roadmap.
  • Plan and organise briefings/communications on diverse talent management and development initiatives. Prepare proposals, presentation decks and reports for senior management.
  • Facilitate talent management-related briefings and workshops for a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the collaboration between Cathay Group and external academic institutions to support young talent’s career development in the aviation industry and build sustainable talent supply to the Cathay Group through different initiatives, such as internship, learning projects, curriculum development, etc.
  • Document and manage all necessary records and information in an organised manner to facilitate daily operations, data and knowledge management and audit requirements.

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in psychology / organisational psychology, business, HR, or a relevant discipline.
  • Have a minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in talent management and organisation development, preferably with experience gained in large-scale and well-established organisations or conglomerates.
  • Demonstrate extensive experience and knowledge of effective talent management strategies, with a track record of successfully managing multiple projects, including but not limited to the HiPo Career Development Programme and Mentorship Programme.
  • Exhibit a good understanding of talent assessment and proficiency in applying psychometric tools, as well as having experience in managing talent management/training vendors or consultants, would be advantageous.
  • Display the ability to collaborate and work effectively with multiple teams and levels, driving positive changes in a collaborative and convincing manner, while also managing client expectations. 
  • Demonstrate adeptness in managing challenging situations with tact and diplomacy, multitasking in fast-paced environments, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Exhibit the capability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations, grasping the core issues and utilising available resources to achieve optimal solutions with sensitivity.
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication in English and Chinese.
  • Show a strong aspiration and passion for developing a career in the Talent Management / Organisation Development field.
  • Possess sound data analytic and digital skills, such as proficiency is MS Teams, Microsoft 365, and Excel, etc.
