Solution Analyst - Raver

In the newly-started Rave & Optimization team at Cathay Pacific, we are working with leading optimization technology to create productive schedules that also fit the crew members’ lifestyles. Seated in the heart of Crew Resources we take an active part in the production of the crew members’ schedules as well as being part of long term strategic improvement work.  In this team you will be surrounded by talented colleagues with varying backgrounds from other airlines and tech companies. We are working according to agile practices and put great emphasis on teamwork. You will have the opportunity to learn about optimization technologies as well as broaden your knowledge in aviation.

As a member of the Rave & Optimization team you will be responsible for modelling business rules and objectives using Jeppesen Pairing and Rostering planning optimization software. You will support the business to do analysis and impact assessment of new potential scheduling practices. You will use python and rave programming languages to enhance the planning systems with new functionality making life easier for the planning executives and provide reports and data to the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Modelling business rules and objectives
  • Analysing scheduling solutions, doing scenario runs and suggest new ways of working to the business
  • Implement, document and test new system features
  • Extract and analyse data from the planning system and present results to key stakeholders
  • Ensure that the system design fits well into the overall ecosystem of Cathay IT solutions
  • Support continuous improvement of standard Cathay IT Practices


  • Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Operation Research, Aviation or other related field
  • Minimum 5 years of related IT experience across the full System Development Lifecycle, covering but not limited to:
    • System analysis
    • Business analysis
    • Slution definition
    • Slution development
    • Slution implementation
    • System testing
  • Python programming
  • Basic Linux command line skills
  • Rave programming or other experience with Jeppesen Crew Products
  • Experience with airline crew scheduling
  • Good communication skills
  • Must be well organized, thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment, leverage best practices, and most importantly, innovate through any problem with a can-do attitude
