Safety Officer - Thailand

To ensure all work, processes and or activities related to occupational safety, health and the work environment are fully compliant as per local Ministerial Regulation on the Prescribing of Standard for Administration and Management of Occupational Safety, Health and Environment B.E.2549 (2006) and Corporate Group Safety and Operational Risk Management (GSORM) policies.
 

To assist Regional Employee Relations and Policy Manager and local People Leads in South East Asia to develop, implement and maintain local guidelines for Occupational Health and Safety, in accordance with company policy and local legislation. 
 

Key Responsibilities

Compliance

  • To conduct regular inspections and pass recommendations to the Employer / Country Manager to fully comply with all occupational safety, health and environment laws and regulations
  • To regularly assess occupational safety risks
  • To inspect and assess the operation and workplace to comply with the work plan, projects and all occupational safety measures
  • To analyse the work to indicate possible dangers, including setting and presenting preventive measures and procedures for working safely
  • To conduct annual Fire Safety Training and Emergency Evacuation or other occupational safety activities in line with legal requirements and regulations

 

Employee Queries, Support and Administration

  • Act as the day to day point of contact for Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSHE) enquiries to both line managers and employees
  • Provide advice on OSHE policies and practices to both local teams and regional teams
  • Provide advice and support to the employees to follow the regulations and guidance as prescribed regarding safety in the workplace
  • Conduct training to facilitate employees to work safely and without risk
  • To support People Lead in other People related tasks as required
  • Any other reasonable task as requested

 

Reporting

  • Investigate and analyse the causes of accidents, incidents, near misses, illness or annoyance in the workplace
  • Report findings of all investigations with suggestions for timely resolution
  • Compile statistical data, analyse the data and report information with recommendations to eliminate or reduce accidents, incidents, near misses, illness or annoyance in the workplace
  • Conduct other occupational safety activities as assigned

 

Corporate Group Safety and Operational Risk Management (GSORM)

  • Partner with GSORM to proactively establish a safety culture which ensures our people’s safety at work is top of mind for all employees (regardless of where they are based) and is prioritised in Thailand and across the region
  • Be the expert on all local and regional health and safety legislation, practices and evolving trends
  • Utilise GSORM health and safety policies and guidelines to achieve effective implementation locally to meet both company expectations and local legislation
  • Partner with GSORM to coordinate or conduct health and safety training as appropriate for the region and in specific areas if issues are occurring
  • Partner with GSORM to source expert supplies for health and safety training that are cost effective and leverage this across the region
  • Ensure all necessary health and safety reporting occurs in a timely manner
  • Liaise with GSORM to ensure reporting processes for incidents and near misses are in place and well understood by all employees
  • Ensure investigations are undertaken as required and monitor ongoing use of reporting mechanisms across markets and identify any gaps to minimize risk and harm
  • Take a leading role in any regional or local Health and Safety committee or working group

  • Emergency and Accident and Crises Response responsibilities as required      
     

Requirements

Academic qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety

 

Knowledge, skills, training and experience

  • Working knowledge and experience in Occupational Health and Industrial Safety
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Occupational Safety and Health Officer or similar
  • Good English communication skills
  • Proven ability to deal with Government Officers and departments
  • Analytical, reliable, and hardworking
  • A demonstrably strong commitment to excellence
  • Understanding of relevant international regulatory safety, industry and operational requirements
  • Ability to handle and react effectively and spontaneously to the different airlines operational models
  • Adapts to and embraces constant change
