Risk Manager

Reports to: Senior Risk Officer (SRO)
Department: Group Corporate Risk (GCR)

To support Senior Risk Officers (SRO) & Chief Risk Officer (CRO) in developing and delivering appropriate metrics, reporting and ad hoc analysis and research around general or specific risk
issues.

Key Responsibilities:

The role involves working with SRO and First Line Risk Owners to develop and maintain the risk management framework including its infrastructure and to conduct research on specific issues.

This may include:

• Maintaining the risk register and developing/managing an analytical framework for assessingthe severity of the CX's risks / deriving its Risk Profile
• Providing technical and administrative support for scenario modelling exercises in relation tomajor risks and populating / maintaining a consistent dashboard that reflects the output fromthese exercises
• Develop and compile any metrics to be used for risk management and socialise them withbusinesses and management. Maintain risk databases and methodology documents
• Write risk policies as directed and provide supporting documentation to risk committees tosecure their approval
• Develop and maintain process for monitoring developments in CX, the airline and transportindustries and the global environment and assessing their impact on CX's risk profile. Defineand conduct process for having new risks or changes in existing risks captured in CX'staxonomy
• Develop and maintain Risk website for active communication of risk activities, explanation ofRisk Management Framework and as a forum for discussion across the organisation
• Prepare papers and supporting materials for Executive and Board Risk Committees and ensureaction items, requests from committee members followed up
• Conduct 'deep dive' research into specific risks, working with internal or external specialists, inorder to provide briefings for risk committees and wider management. This research should beboth relevant and thought provoking and should contain firm recommendations
• Build a network of informal contacts across organisation, but with Safety and Auditdepartments in particular, such as to be able to both gather intelligence for SRO and exercise'soft' influence
• Work with SRO to promote a positive risk culture within the Company, seeking to provide thematerials and the environment for open discussion and debate
• Develop reputation as risk management expert to monitor, benchmark and recommend bestpractice in large corporations in general and the airline industry in particular

Requirements:

Academic qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in any discipline

Knowledge, skills, training and experience

• Minimum five years of experience working in risk management, compliance or internal audit at a major listed corporation or in the risk area of a global consultancy and/or

• Minimum five years of experience working in the technology, human resources, project management, finance, marketing / PR, sales, procurement / supply chain or operational management areas of a large corporation or in a company specializing in one of those disciplines and / or

• Postgraduate study in a relevant discipline e.g. MBA, Risk Management or Finance qualification

• Strong communication skills, both an paper and in person, able to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders and to build strong relationships

• Analytical mindset with an enthusiasm for learning new things, researching issues and developing new insights on established and emerging issues. Numeracy and logic will be important attributes to support effectiveness

• Presentation skills, ability to write concise reports, organize materials, prepare PowerPoint presentations all very desirable

• Curious disposition, inclined to question and challenge and to seek understanding of issues while always maintaining the respect of stakeholders

• Very 'customer-oriented', keen to work in partnership with Business Units to seek positive outcomes

• Excellent Excel & PowerPoint skills

• Depending on the applicant's experience and qualification, applicants will be considered for either the Risk Manager or Risk Analyst role
