Role Introduction

Reports To: Head of Crew Resources & Operations Analytics

In the Jeppesen Crew Pairing (JCP) and Jeppesen Crew Rostering (JCR) environment, the RAVE & Optimisation Manager will lead and provide direction and support for the team of RAVE programmers in Crew Resources, to ensure that the team is optimally proficient and able to drive change.   
This role will develop strategies to enhance Cathay Pacific’s crew scheduling optimisation capabilities, to improve crew productivity, crew satisfaction and to reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and recommend system changes that would be beneficial for crew scheduling optimisation and which would improve productivity.
  • Co-ordinate with internal and cross-functional teams to drive new business initiatives, including support in crew management system development and enhancements.
  • Act as focal point, in discussions with Jeppesen crew scheduling portfolio representatives regarding core changes and/or new features that would benefit Cathay Pacific’s operation.
  • Develop capabilities within FOP and IT, specifically relating to analytical capabilities and RAVE knowledge.
  • Drive structural changes to the setup of JCP and JCR within CX to support the changing business environment.
  • Deliver key system enhancements to align Pairing & Rostering solutions with evolving crewing restrictions and requirements.
  • Support scenario modelling and ensure JCP and JCR are adapted to optimize against latest conditions of service.
  • Continue building up in-house expertise in JCP & JCR, optimisation and RAVE coding.
  • Advising on optimisation program tuning.
  • Support ongoing configurations and enhancements to JCP and JCR post Jeppesen handover.
  • Act as focal point with Business Analysts regarding core changes and/or new features that would benefit Cathay Pacific’s operation
Requirements

Knowledge

  • Degree holder in the discipline of mathematics, technology or a related area preferred.
  • Hold in-depth knowledge with the CAD Flight Time Limitations.
  • Hold in-depth understanding in the Company’s operational nature and needs.
  • Hold in-depth knowledge in the workflow in Crew Resources & Operations Analytics and how pairing and rostering solutions impact the crew planning, rostering and day-of-operations.

Skills

  • Competent in JCP and JCR system backend programming and set up.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and planning skills; good computing and statistical ability.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Project management skill and usage of PM tools (such as JIRA).
  • Ability to work under pressure and work well in a team environment.

Experience

  • Solid experience in tuning and development of Jeppesen crewing products.
  • Demonstrated experience of development and implementation of Jeppesen crew planning systems or relevant optimisation systems.
  • Experience in conceptualizing creative solutions/ideas, as well as documenting and presenting them for senior management buy-in.
  • Ability to present complex information in a simple and easily understandable way.
  • Excellent attention to details and strive for quality.
