Project Manager - Portfolio Management

Reports to: Service Operations Manager

Department: Information Management (IMT)

Purpose:

To contribute operationally to the achievement of Information Management’s business objectives by delivering project management services across Cathay Pacific projects.

Responsibilities:

Plan, direct and coordinate all IT project activities to ensure that project objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters.

Review project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, sourcing approach, delivery method, dependencies, procedures for accomplishing projects, negotiate staffing requirements to various project phases

Collaborate with stakeholders to drive business and technology innovation to achieve business unit’s strategic plan and business objectives

Manage the dynamic project team of individuals. Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle.

Foster a continuous learning and cross-team knowledge sharing culture among project delivery groups.

Collaborate with Project Practice Manager to improve project management practices across all IT projects. Adopt necessary standard and best practices for project management and ensure compliance

Attention to detail, and ability to organise and prioritize workload for the team.

Ability to communicate risks and issues clearly and concisely and to support management with the preparation of action plans.

Keep abreast of the latest trends in technology and project management practices, ensuring timely exploration and proactively communicate IT’s position towards the introduction of relevant / key emerging technologies

Qualfications and Experience:

  1. Degree holder in Informaiton Technology, Business or related area
  2. Minimum 10 years of IT experience with at least 5 years in project management role. For an Assistant Project Manager minimum of 5 years of IT experience.
  3. Proven experience in managing projects with ability to multitask and manage multiple small to medium projects in a cross-functional environment
  4. Detailed knowledge of the following disciplines: project and program delivery, portfolio management, application development management, infrastructure development management, vendor management, service transition and cutover planning
  5. Technical proficiency in hardware and system software, as well as experience implementing packages and working with vendors
  6. Project management related certification such as PMP
  7. Proven experience in managing OPEX Cost/Budget management
