Position: Payroll Administrator

Reports to: Payroll Supervisor

Cathay Pacific Airways Canada is looking for a Full Time Payroll Administrator based in Vancouver, B.C. The successful candidate will play a key role in a critical team supporting Payroll services in the Americas.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Enrolment of new hires and ongoing maintenance of employee payroll records for Canada and USA consisting of management, admin staff, ground staff, cockpit crew and cabin crew;
  • Ability to operate in a highly diverse and fast paced payroll environment (bi-weekly, monthly, salaried, hourly, union and non-union)
  • Compilation of payroll data, computation of wages earned, deductions required, input changes and adjustments ensuring all input is accurate and authorized with adherence to deadlines, internal controls and all applicable legislation and regulations
  • Verification of timesheets - hours submitted, approved overtime, vacation taken, duty travel, sick leave, etc. with authorization by appropriate operational manager
  • Respond on time to government surveys (monthly, quarterly, annually), meet government reporting deadlines, support Hong Kong Payroll team with Inland Revenue Department (IRD) compliance reporting and ad hoc payroll requests
  • Preparation of Records of Employment (ROEs), requests and queries from government authorities for additional information or verification of payroll information
  • Calculation and subsequent payment of payroll related remittances, monthly, quarterly and annual account reconciliations, preparation of audit information for pensions, Workers’ Compensation, and other benefit programs as required
  • Organization and ongoing maintenance of payroll files in accordance with all legislated and internal record retention and archiving policies, ensure employee files are complete, up-to-date and accurate
  • Respond to employee queries in a timely and professional manner
  • General administration including handling incoming mail, couriers, preparation of check requisitions, refund checks/deposits, support for special projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned


  • Minimum of three (3) years Canadian and/or US payroll experience
  • Completed or enrolled in Canadian and/or USA Payroll Association certification program or equivalent experience an asset
  • ADP systems experience (Work Force Now, Pay @ Work, People@ Work eTime, EzLabour, etc.) an asset
  • Understanding of federal, state and provincial laws in regards to payroll and benefits
  • Experience with large ERP financial systems an asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, deadline-driven, high attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team player as well as an individual contributor
  • Strong MS Office background and Excel skills
  • High level of customer service, both internal and external customers
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work processes, problem resolution and continuous process improvement
