Learning Specialist - Airport and Cargo Operations

Reports to: Assistant Learning Manager – Airport & Cargo Operations

Department: The Learning Academy

This role is responsible for delivering learning programmes for airport and cargo operations teams as well as train-the-trainer certification courses for ground handling agent trainers. He/she will ensure ramp, baggage, cargo and freighter operations teams have the required knowledge, skills and attributes to be safe, operationally competent, service minded and regulatory compliant.

Key responsibilities and tasks

  • Deliver functional, technical and service programmes system-wide for passenger and freighter aircraft ramp team and handling agents
  • Deliver train-the-trainer certification courses for ground handling agent trainers. Conduct supplier training / trainer auditing programmes in outports
  • Actively liaise with local port training coordinator to identify local needs and support learning plans
  • Participate in new training programme design and delivery projects
  • Provide ‘cutover’ training to ensure new stations, change of suppliers, new terminals and new systems are effectively launched

Qualifications / Experience

  • 5+ years of airport operations (ramp/baggage services) or cargo and freighter operations experience (supervisory experience or above) preferred
  • Role model of customer service and operational excellence
  • In-depth subject matter knowledge of airport or cargo operational knowledge, e.g. Dangerous Goods Handling and Regulations, Cargo Services and Tariff, Warehouse & Ramp operations and Aircraft Loading Supervision etc. will be advantageous
  • Sound PC knowledge in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint a must
  • Knowledge of CSS, ALPS or Altéa FM will be advantageous
  • Strong personal presence and verbal / non-verbal communication skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Flexible and adaptable with strong planning and organising skills
  • Strong sense of responsibility and acts as a supportive team player
  • Passion for learning with effective facilitation skills to deliver learning sessions 
  • Willingness to travel extensively and to work occasionally during rest days and public holidays (compensatory day off will be given in lieu)
