A natural storyteller and creative thinker, you will be responsible for keeping employees across the airline informed and updated with timely, relevant and interesting communications. You will work with partners from across the business to create stories, content and campaigns that bring our brand to life and support our broader strategy and vision of the airline – with the ultimate goal of improving employee engagement. You will be responsible for the management and evolution of Cathay’s internal communications channel mix.  
You will also play an active role in working with key partners across the airline, including department and senior leaders to grow awareness of our business and share successes that recognise our people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and evolve a strategic communications plan in partnership with the Head of Internal Communications and Engagement
  • Develop and implement an annual content strategy with engaging and creative stories that supports Cathay’s strategic direction, vision and business priorities
  • Develop leadership communications to connect Cathay’s senior leadership team to the business with their own tone of voice
  • Manage, review and continuously improve the internal communications channel mix including our digital employee portal (intranet), leadership communications, videos, e-newsletters, digital screens, social media and other online and offline channels to meet the requirements of targeted employee groups, including our geographically dispersed workforce
  • Identifying new and creative ways to communicate internally especially to Cathay’s frontline teams
  • Ensure organisational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated and promoted
  • Oversee, write, plan and edit content for online and offline channels – including day-to-day news and information
  • Manage Cathay’s digital employee portal (The Hub) as the central communications point – including content creation, content governance, designing the user experience and building an online community 
  • Manage Cathay’s email platform including onboarding and governance with all admin users
  • Develop and oversee the execution of campaigns
  • Support department’s with setting up their communications strategies including channels for their respective teams
  • Measure the effectiveness of internal communications messages and channels on an ongoing basis and make recommendations to review and amend as appropriate
  • Manage internal communications for crisis situations


  • Degree in communications, marketing or related discipline
  • 8+ years in internal/external communication-related roles, preferably in complex organisations with geographically dispersed employees 
  • Excellent written English communication/copy writing skills (Chinese advantageous)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and good judgment; able to build rapport with people at all levels of seniority
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing demands in a fast-paced environment
  • A creative mindset matched with an ability to deliver new initiatives in a complex corporate environment
  • Experience in managing large scale projects with many moving parts  
  • A confident and persuasive communicator who can adapt their style for different channels and audiences
  • Action-orientated and self-motivated
