Role Introduction

Reports To: Head of Programme Value Optimisation, Air & Insurance

Wellness and Insurance is part of our premium travel lifestyle value proposition.  We work on new innovations and product offerings that will ensure our customers and members are getting well protected throughout their life journeys. Reporting to the Head of Programme Value Optimisation, Air & Insurance the candidate will work to develop & grow our insurance products and propositions. In addition, He / She will be responsible to formulate the partnership strategies and roadmap for Cathay Customer Lifestyle partnerships ecosystem and to collaborate with other partnership teams to build and monetize from customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of the overall vision & strategy for insurance
  • Act as key contact for Cathay’s strategic insurance partners and oversees day-to-day operation of product sales activities
  • Owns P&L accountability for the assigned insurance product(s).
  • Grow travel insurance sales to significantly increase the proportion of customers which travel with Cathay Pacific that purchase travel insurance in conjunction with their ticket.
  • Work with internal stakeholders such as DEX, and SND to optimise the customer experience when purchasing insurance products via Cathay’s digital channels.
  • Grow the geographic coverage of Cathay’s insurance product to support our extensive travel network through collaborating with regional teams.
  • Lead commercial discussion with external parties on topics such as but not limited to profit sharing arrangement, contract renewal, and developing strategic partnerships to optimise revenue.
  • Drive further growth of Cathay’s insurance business through exploring new insurance products that complement our membership demographic & lifestyle needs.
  • Advise and support the management on the rollout of Insurance products, including sales journey and channel optimisation, value proposition and product development 
  • Lead the end-to-end insurance partnership development process from prospecting, pitching, evaluation, negotiation, signing and launch
  • Achieve sales targets and maximizing contribution from existing and new partners within the Insurance sector in Hong Kong, shadowing for Taiwan and GBA markets  
  • Research, analyse and monitor insurance market trends, intelligence and competition
  • Proven ability with use of business analytics and member behavior insights to increase  conversion and upsell of insurance & relevant Lifestyle offerings

  • Degree in business / marketing or related disciplines 
  • Solid experience in general insurance and bancassurance 
  • Minimum eight years relevant experience of which 2 years management in the field of business development/partnerships, eCommerce or corporate strategy
  • Experience in insurance product development and business process improvement 
  • Demonstrated proven ability  in exploring and launching successful partnership that have led to growth in revenue and profitability
  • Strong organisational and analytic skills in financial, planning and operation
  • Knowledge and experience in loyalty program, database marketing, agile / scrum environment is a plus
  • Recognized (IA) Insurance license holder or holding RO license would be an advantage
  • Proactive, creative, self-driven, analytical and business minded with excellent strategic thinking and communication and relationship building skills
  • Able to extract key messages of a complex issue and present it in a clear and storytelling way
  • Fluent in written English and Chinese
  • Computer literacy with knowledge in MS Office
