Head of Procurement - Operations and Development

Reports to: General Manager Procurement and Aircraft Trading

Department: Procurement & Aircraft Trading (APD)

Develop and set objectives, strategy and guidelines for category acquisition and service support agreements. Plays a critical role in supporting the development of the procurement function both from a process and technology perspective. Accountable for identifying and delivering annual budget savings, managing effective supplier relationships and negotiating strategies for purchasing, leasing and maintenance service agreements. A team of managers report into the role covering ground services, fuel, change and compliance and eProcurement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for continuously developing and implementing the procurement operating model, ensuring practices that are compliant and consistent across categories
  • Develops the tools and techniques that support the business needs
  • Accountable for ensuring consistent and robust cross business unit adherence to the Procure to Pay process
  • Accountable for meeting the Business objectives concerning the cost effective sourcing for Ground Services and Fuel categories including the definition and execution of robust category strategies
  • Schedule, participate, contribute and drive cross functional strategy meetings and steering groups
  • Make recommendations and/or approve decisions, on behalf of the business, emanating from RFI, RFQ and RFP processes.
  • Appraise, manage, motivate, mentor and develop the team

Requirements:

  • Degree or above in business studies or other relevent disciplines
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in procurement or commercial engineering, with experience of vendor contract negotiation and budgetary/financial responsibilities, with more than 5 years spent in managerial positions
  • Strong commercial awareness with ability to identify, analyse, drive and maximise opportunities
  • Good business acumen with excellent negotiation skills and decision-making skills
  • Visionary, dynamic, forward thinking and change orientated; Self-motivated and proactive
  • Customer focused, able to anticipate needs
  • Well organised with strong planning and project management skills, able to prioritise effectively
  • Strong people and stakeholder management skills, effective at team work
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
