Head of International Affairs - Operations and Industry Affairs

Reports to: GM International Affairs

Department: International Affairs (IAF)

The International Affairs team develops, maintains and strengthens relationships with external and internal stakeholders with the objective to protect, promote and look after the Cathay Pacific Group’s interests in accordance with the Corporate Mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Protect CX Group operational integrity by ensuring access to airspace
  • Work with IATA, ICAO & Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) to optimize air routes and improve operational efficiency
  • Manage ANSP (“Overflying”) budget
  • Establish, maintain and strengthen relationships with ANSPs
  • Leverage international and industry associations to CX benefit
  • Co-ordinate industry association (typically IATA & AAPA) activities within the CX Group
  • Manage UK-based threat & risk consultant
  • Co-ordinate threat & risk information received from consultant within the CX Group


  • Minimum 8 years of airline operation or air traffic management experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A deep understanding of the working dynamics in IATA, ICAO and AAPA
  • Strong analytic and data mining skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Additional language an added advantage
  • Ability to think fast
  • Presentable, work well with others and a demonstrated strong influencing skills
  • Proven problem solving and project management skills
