Role Introduction

Reports to: Assistant Manager Equipment Planning and Development

 

This position is responsible for the catering equipment projects. The incumbent will assist in new equipment development and execution in line with set strategy and concepts in meeting passengers’ needs in a cost effective and timely manner.

This position is further responsible for the preparation of equipment specification and requirement for sourcing and selection for inflight equipment according to the direction of Customer Experience – Dinging and Hospitality & Catering Centre of Excellence - Inflight Catering & QC team.

The incumbent will liaise and communicate with all concerned parties (CCE, CED, ISD, Caterers including CPCS, CAF, FOP, GSROM) on the newly developed inflight equipment (e.g. new PEY/YCL equipment projects, JCL catering equipment alignment, FCL enhancement, etc), ensuring that all the projects are aligned with the agreed set basic standards and communicated properly. The incumbent will also provide assistance to implement and monitor cost / weight savings and environmental initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for projects as dedicated by Catering Operations Supply Chain & Inventory Management Manager and/or Assistant Manager Equipment Planning and Development
  • Coordinate project activities and communicate change summary within CCE Team and all relevant working team.
  • Support and coordinate Customer Experience – Dining and Hospitality team and Culinary Design Team on catering equipment related projects.
  • Plan equipment procurement, design compliance, specification development and equipment launch according to the design concept and guidelines from CED – Dining and Hospitality team and CCE Inflight Catering and Quality Control team.
  • Plan for equipment projects on time plan and prepare equipment usage forecast, design and functional needs, logistics requirement for sourcing and tendering process.
  • Formulate supplier selection criteria and tools, analyse and evaluate data for equipment selection with Procurement team.
  • Define and establish equipment handling procedures for implementation.
  • Coordinate and communicate for new equipment launch and procedural changes to cabin crew, caterers, cleaners and contractors.
  • Continuous review and monitor equipment quality, serviceability and enhance equipment design for improvement in terms of equipment function and durability.
  • Monitor and analyse equipment and logistics expenditures to identify improvement opportunities and propose cost initiatives.
  • Manage equipment supply and monitor equipment replenishment to ensure adequate equipment uplift for normal catering operation.
  • Prepare budget and forecast for equipment, logistics expenses and perform monthly expenses variance analysis.
  • Provide support during catering disruption.
  • Review, investigate and reply to crew and passengers' feedback and management enquires, and take remedy measures when required.
  • Prepare and issue CX Cabin Crew – Crew Weekly and Notice to Business Partners (NTBP) to crew community and network caterers.
  • Communicate new equipment and procedural changes by updating Catering Operations Manual (COM), CCOM, Policy and Procedures Manual (PPM), Service Equipment Manual (SEM) or via Notice to Business Partners (NTBP), Crew Weekly, CX world, intranet, etc.
  • Support and coordinate Customer Experience – F & B & SD team and Culinary Design Team on equipment-related projects.
  • Follow all reasonable instructions as directed by team manager and HOCE.
Requirements

  • Tertiary education or recognised qualification in Hotel and Catering, business administration related disciplines.
  • A minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience in airline, airline catering, logistics or related industry.
  • Good analytical and quantitative skills
  • Excellent planning, organisation skills and project management
  • Good cost & numeric sense.
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills and self-motivated.
  • Sound problem solving skills.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS office application skills.
  • Written and spoken English and Chinese.
  • Relevant skills in galley space analysis and planning.
