Business Intelligence Manager

Reports to: Head of Financial Accounting

This role will play a pivotal role in designing, developing and maintaining insightful and meaningful reporting for the Finance department across a wide range of external and internal stakeholders in order to facilitate improved strategic decision making.

Key responsibilities:

  • Execute the vision and strategy for the Finance Business Intelligence landscape through leveraging new technology, existing functionalities and best practices
  • Manage the overall integrity of Business Intelligence for Finance, including managing a comprehensive set of data integrity checks and reconciliations to ensure consistency and completeness of financial data and analysis across different levels of company reporting, multiple sources of information and historical data
  • Provision of summary and detailed financial analysis and insightful commentary for various stakeholders including Shareholders and Directors
  • Develop expertise in the Finance Department on reporting systems and databases used
  • Lead and coordinate Business Intelligence improvement activities for Finance, including system upgrades, report enhancements, new reporting layers, system changes, flat file uploads and interface feeds
  • Design, build and refine reports, with an awareness and understanding of underlying cost allocation logic and data structures
  • Develop a sound and holistic understanding of underlying commercial drivers affecting the performance of Cathay Pacific
  • Proactively work with a wide range of stakeholders in formalizing, maintaining and refining policies, procedures, definitions, rules, hierarchies and allocations necessary for the clear interpretation and comparability of financial data for users
  • Lead and facilitate Business Intelligence training across Finance user groups
  • Assist in other ad hoc duties as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or related discipline
  • Qualified Accountant (CPA or equivalent) & audit experience with a recognised audit firm
  • Minimum 8 years' relevant accounting experience with at least 3 years' post-qualification experience in a supervisory role
  • Strong leadership qualities with an ability to manage direct and indirect reports
  • Business Intelligence experience preferred
  • Exceptional skills in MS Excel (Macros advantageous)
  • Experience in using SAP advantageous (S4, BW, BI, BI Analysis for Office, Fiori)
  • Effective problem solving skills with an analytical mind set
  • Proven planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
  • Strong appetite to learn, with an ability & desire to understand the underlying commercial aspects of the relevant business units, willing to challenge the status quo and improve work processes
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, independently as well as an effective team player
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including communication and presentation
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English (fluency in Cantonese required and Mandarin a plus), with a proven ability to convey insightful and informative reports
