Assistant Accounting Services Manager

Reports to: Finance Manager

Department: Financial Services

We are looking for a high calibre individual to join our Financial Services Department (FIN).  As the Assistant Accounting Services Manager, he/she will assist the Finance Manager in supporting the Business Units (BU) on day to day financial related matters. He/she will work very closely with the BUs and provide relevant support for senior management in decision making and  will need to conduct accounting and financial activities in line with established company policies and regulatory requirements, and to ensure that there is adequate financial control and compliance over BUs operations.

Key responsibilities:

Management and financial reporting

  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of revenues, expenses and balance sheet items in the general ledger
  • Oversee month end close, prepare monthly management reports, and relevant accounting schedules of the Group for month end/interim/annual closing in accordance with the Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standard and other statutory requirements
  • Identify overdue and aging items and follow up with relevant parties
  • Ensure there is adequate financial control and compliance over BU’s day-to-day operations, and that there is sufficient internal control in place for proper risk management
  • Lead and supervise team members to complete and deliver tasks in a timely manner

Budgeting and Cost control

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and plan
  • Assist in the preparation of forecasts as requested throughout the year
  • Critically review actual spend compared to budget and work with management to identify cost savings opportunities
  • Assist in the preparation of insightful business performance analysis

Business advisory

  • Provide support to the BUs to ensure that they understand the drivers of performance and proactively manage the operational cost base
  • Assist in analysing financial problems and propose sensible solutions for management consideration
  • Anticipate issues and raise concerns as necessary at an early stage
  • Perform ad hoc assignments as and when required


  • Degree holder in Accounting or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years relevant working experience, prior experience in the airline industry is an advantage, with minimum 2-3 years supervisory experience
  • Certified Public Accountant or equivalent professional qualification would be a plus
  • Knowledge in SAP is a definite advantage
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to interact with all levels within the organisation
  • Sound analytical, problem solving and leadership skills
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, independently as well as an effective team player

Candidates with less experience will also be considered as Accountant
