Accountant - Commercial

Reports to: Finance Manager

Department: Financial Services

Candidate will serve as a key member of the accounting services team assisting the Accounting Services Manager in liaising with the business unit on all finance related matters and providing financial analysis and ad hoc support to the Customer team.  This role contributes to the financial planning and analysis as well as functional finance business partnering functionalities. 

Key Responsibilities

Key areas of accountability (and associated outputs):

Month End Closing

  • To ensure accurate month end closing for BUs reporting into Director Customer (e.g. review anomalies, prepare accruals, use of CC/GL, follow up on monthly control and monitoring reports, etc). Check/clarify, follow up with BUs in case of suspicious error and rectify error entries in SAP. 

Monthly Reports

  • Analyse monthly operating results for management review
  • Prepare monthly reports (e.g. MRP, level 2 reports, Balance Sheet Review Pack, etc.)

Day to Day Financial related matters, including but not limit to

  • Ensure accurate record of AP
  • Provide comments and feedback on relevant SAP processes
  • Provide support to BUs in relation to cost monitoring and internal cost control
  • Handle enquiries from BUs
  • Ad hoc assignments as and when required


  • Capture assumptions from BUs and work out the budget figures based on assumptions
  • Compile full budget templates for BU’s review
  • Provide analysis against comparatives (e.g. exch, volume, price var)
  • Upload figures in BPC and ensure accuracy


  • Prepare relevant schedules in accordance with the Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standard and other statutory requirements



  • A degree holder in Accounting with professional designation in Accountancy preferred
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant experience of which 2 years' experience in supervisory role. Audit experience with recognized audit firms a definite plus
  • Strong analytical mind, organising and interpersonal skills
  • Strong skills in MS Office applications, especially in Excel
  • Experience in using SAP advantageous
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Cantonese/Chinese
  • Be self-motivated, able to work under pressure and being flexible when necessary to meet deadlines
  • Willing to challenge the status quo and improve work processes
