Eyes Beyond Horizons: Flight Attendant Alexe’s Journey of Growth

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Alexe’s deep-rooted connection with Cathay began during childhood trips to visit family. As she grew older, her desire to explore different cultures and broaden her horizons eventually led her to a rewarding career in aviation as a Flight Attendant. For Alexe, Cathay felt like a natural starting point – an airline that best represents Hong Kong and its connection to the world.

Structured Training: Building Professionalism and Adaptability

Every cabin crew member begins their career with an intensive seven-week safety and service training programme. Alexe admitted that the process was more challenging than expected. From understanding the cabin features to practising emergency scenarios and first-aid procedures, each day came with various challenging assessments to ensure every action was performed seamlessly.

When it comes to service training, on top of basic theory, Alexe believes practical application is the key. Every passenger comes onboard with different needs, and cabin crew need to remain attentive and agile to perform service excellence. Alexe shared that when she sees parents boarding with children, she will always proactively check their preferences and adjust the dining arrangements where necessary, so the family can have a relaxed and enjoyable journey.

A Travel Companion for Passengers

Alexe mentioned that elevating the journey is about providing an effortless sense of well-being, ensuring our customers feel just as safe and comfortable as they do at home. Delivering heartfelt hospitality demands more than just a warm greeting. It relies on intuitive listening, thoughtful observation, and genuine empathy to truly anticipate needs and care for our customers.

Alexe also shared being a flight attendant has shaped her personal growth: “While naturally reserved, my journey as a cabin crew member has taught me to share heartfelt care proactively. Along the way, I’ve grown into a much more confident and genuinely warm person.”
