Role Introduction
Reports to: Cloud & Data Platform Delivery Manager
The Cloud & Data Platform Senior Lead plays a critical hands-on leadership role in delivering and operating Cathay Technologies’ cloud infrastructure, platform services, and data engineering capabilities. Reporting to the Cloud & Data Platform Delivery Manager, this role is responsible for day-to-day technical leadership, solution delivery, and operational excellence across cloud platforms, DevOps pipelines, and data services. The Senior Lead translates strategy into execution, ensuring platforms are secure, scalable, reliable, and cost-effective.
Acting as a technical authority and delivery lead, the role works closely with application teams, security, customer, and operations to ensure platforms and data solutions are production-ready and aligned with enterprise standards. This position balances hands-on technical depth with team leadership, enabling fast, safe, and high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead hands-on delivery of cloud platforms and data services, translating strategy into secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions.
- Design, build, and operate cloud infrastructure and platform services, driving cloud-first, automated, and reusable platform components.
- Drive DevOps, DevSecOps & automation adoption, embedding CI/CD, security, compliance, and quality controls into delivery pipelines.
- Lead data engineering delivery, building robust data pipelines, platforms, and integration solutions to support analytics and business needs.
- Ensure platforms and data services are production-ready, meeting requirements for security, reliability, performance, scalability, and operational resilience.
- Own end-to-end delivery of assigned initiatives, managing risks, dependencies, quality, and vendor coordination.
- Strengthen IT service operations, supporting SLA/KPI performance, incident management, automation, and smooth transition to BAU.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship, developing engineers, promoting best practices, and fostering accountability and collaboration.
- Act as technical authority and escalation point, supporting application teams with platform onboarding, automation, and troubleshooting.
- (Preferred) Support airline Flight Operations systems, delivering technology in operationally critical, safety- and reliability-focused environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; Master’s degree is an advantage
- 8–10+ years of experience in cloud, platform, infrastructure, or data engineering roles
- Proven experience leading technical delivery and small to medium-sized teams
- Strong hands-on experience in Cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure), DevOps and DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code, Data engineering and data platforms, IT service operations and production support, Airline or travel industry experience is an advantage
- Strong technical leadership and problem-solving skills and ability to translate architecture and standards into working solutions
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills and ability to balance delivery speed with quality, security, and reliability
- Good commercial and cost awareness; and clear communication with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience in Cloud infrastructure, containers, and microservices, CI/CD pipelines and automation tools, Data modeling, ETL/ELT, and data integration, observability, monitoring, and incident management
- Knowledge in agile and hybrid delivery methodologies, Cloud certifications (AWS / Azure), DevOps or DevSecOps certifications and ITIL or service management certifications
- Proficiency in English Cantonese and Mandarin preferred
